James and Jennifer Crumbly, the first parents convicted in a mass school shooting

as they were sentenced today.

The Oakland County judge sentencing both Jennifer and James Crumbly to 10 to 15 years in prison.

Terms she calls reasonable and proportionate to the seriousness of the matter, and convictions that

stem from helping their now imprisoned son obtain a gun, and for ignoring the warning signs

that led to the deadly mass shooting at Oxford High School in 2021.

The crumblies ahead of sentencing saying they're sorry.

I stand a day not to ask for your forgiveness as I know it may be beyond reach,

but to express my sincerest apologies.

My heart is really broken for everybody involved.

It's the first of its kind case where the parents of a

former assistant principal at elementary school in Newport News,

Virginia charged with felony child neglect

more than a year after a six-year-old boy

brought a gun to school and shot and

wounded his first-grade teacher.

Emily Park has been indicted by a special grand jury. She faces a felony counts

each of which is punishable by up to five years in prison.

She and other school officials already

face a $40 million negligence lawsuit from the teacher who was shot.
