Scott and I sit down with the legendary bass player, Yonik Guizdala.

We talked to Yonik for about two hours.

It's a fascinating conversation.

If you don't know Yonik, he is, of course,

a bass player, steeped in jazz vocabulary, a fantastic bandleader, educator, content creator. We talk

all about it. And we actually have some very different opinions on what it means to be a content

creator versus an artist. On the importance of social media, Yonik has just gotten rid of all of his

social media. I couldn't feel more differently about how I engage and love social media.

So it was fascinating to hear his take. As for me, I came up loving Yonik,

and not even so much the records and his music, but just his online presence. Like, I didn't come

up wanting to play jazz or transcribe Brecker solos. I just was, I loved that there was someone

out there that did, right? I would watch his content and be like, wow, this dude is going for it.

Very, very opinionated and just interesting, like transcribing Brecker solos in real time,

not slowing it down.

I mean, right?

Very, like, sticking to his guns. It's something that I have admired for a very

long time about Yonik. We talk about that. We also talk about him diving into pedals. I ask where that

comes from. He was very inspirational to me on sounds, the sounds he makes, the pedals he uses, right?

We talk about his instrument, his new F bass.
