Get excited because this is tiny leaps. Big Jeechis. Welcome to another episode of Tiny Leaps, Big Changes. My name is Greg Clooney's and today I want to talk about the New Year's. We approach this time of year every year every

single year like clockwork and many of us we get excited. We start planning we're looking

ahead and we start saying things like,

this is going to be my year. 2022 is the year of, whatever your name is, Sam.

I hope there's actually a Sam listening to this right now that's going to

make your whole year. We approach New Year's in this like very progressive

minded progressive focused

perspective we want to make changes we want to improve we want to be better

than we were this year and there's a reason for this

uh... kady milkman uh... she's the author of the book How to Change. She's also a behavioral

economist, does fantastic research in the space. Someone I'm going to be having on my show

early in 2022 to talk about her book in the process of change.

She calls this the Fresh Start Effect and it's based on some research that her and her team did

where they found that if you organize change around what is perceived to be a fresh opportunity,

you are more likely to stick with it, you're more likely to get started, and it feels like

you're shedding the old you and starting from scratch.

So the standard times are the beginning of the year, the beginning of a new era, so you know if you turn 30 like I'm turning

13 April like that's a fresh start opportunity. Any birthday really can

sort of be viewed that way and this is why on this show historically I've any birthday
