Hello, welcome to the podcast. Now, this week, Human Rights Watch, which is by no stretch

a radical organisation, it's a very mainstream human rights organisation, has condemned

Israel for being guilty of apartheid. The occupation of Palestinian lands has gone on

for decades, a brutal and illegal occupation. And we've seen, of course, the situation to

generate ever further for the Palestinian people who are deprived of the rights and national

self-determination. So today, what we're doing is we're talking to Hanan Ashrawi, who is a

very prominent Palestinian politician, a scholar, served as a member of the leadership committee,

has been an official spokesperson of the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace process

and served as Palestinian Authority Minister of Higher Education and Research. Her activism,

her work goes back many, many decades, she's born before the foundation of Israel itself.

So we're going to talk to her about the situation in Palestine and what we can do for those of
