Summary

50% of marriages fail but why? We have our thoughts and it may not be what you expect. Yes, communication and sharing responsibility are both important. But what about values? Deep-rooted core values that set your actions and principles. Ask yourself: if I were to die tomorrow, what piece of advice would you give your kid/someone you cared about?

In today's episode, we share our core values and why our strong connection has grown and evolved over time. We hope after this episode, you reflect on what your core values are and either discuss these openly with your partner or start to look for these in your next relationship (or keep swiping and hooking up on tinder).

What's up, guys? Thanks for joining us. I'm really excited for what we're about to talk about

0:03.9

today. This is something that I've talked to a lot of friends about and just a cool topic that I think is

0:11.0

going to provide a lot of value. And it's understanding the importance of your core values. First off,

0:16.4

having core values. And Jordan and I want to talk about it specifically in the context of a relationship.

0:21.5

We're going to talk to you about what are we narrowed it down to four core values are and why

0:27.5

and kind of how we came to that. And I really do think this is the key to a long-term successful

0:34.2

relationship and it's what has made us so strong. Yeah, well said. And I think within

0:38.9

understanding your core values, it can be applied even outside of a relationship, even the core,

0:43.4

even understanding yourself, like what is going to allow yourself to thrive and be happy and however

0:47.8

you design your life. And once you identify that, that allows you to find a partner which

0:51.9

aligns, right? Yeah, and that's a good point because,

0:55.3

and, you know, decisions are hard, tough, tough financial decisions. What should I do with my life?

1:00.1

You know, the big picture of things, I think if you can draw it back to these three to five core

1:03.6

values that you have, and we're going to give examples of this and say, you know what, this aligns with this, I'm going for it. I think it's just a really easy way to be

1:11.1

decisive. And it's a really easy way for Jordan and I to say, you know, maybe if we're on the

1:15.3

opposite sides of something, to trace it all the way back, like, look, our core values, growth, impact,

1:20.3

adventure, family, it points us right back to one of those. We have to go in this direction.

1:24.5

Yeah, and the more clear you are with what your core values are also allows you to attract people who have similar values because you're clear on them.

1:32.1

You actually pursue those things and you're an example of them. So not only like romantic

1:36.7

relationships, but it's going to allow you to attract the right people in your life that also

1:40.1

share those core values. The people that Aaron and I hang out with, they don't have opposite

1:43.6

core values. Right. Yeah. And I used to get myself in positions where I would continually say,

...
