Well, hello, hello, guys. You're listening to Beauty Bites with Dr. K., Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon,

0:16.2

and it's time for a five-minute Friday. I am excited that it's Friday. It's been a long summer. I don't know.

0:24.2

This summer hasn't felt like summer to me. It has a different flavor. I am working, working,

0:29.7

very industrious. And I want to have that lazy, slow summer languishing feeling. But it's just not happening so um we instead are going to be super

0:44.3

industrious and super creative and that's actually great i love summer for the creativity side but today

1:29.4

going to talk about facial balancing, why less is more and why harmony is everything. And in aesthetic

1:38.0

1:45.9

or a sharper jawline. That's sort of like a jigsaw approach to beauty where you're purchasing

1:51.7

an asset or a feature and sticking it on a face whether it belongs or not. But, you know,

1:58.4

this kind of facial balancing is about how each of your features work together to create harmony.

2:03.6

That's what makes a face memorable.

2:05.7

And it is not about perfection.

2:08.3

I want to repeat, it is not about perfect symmetry and it's not about perfection.

2:12.5

It's about beautiful proportions.

2:15.7

It's about showcasing the best features and drawing attention with points

2:20.6

of light, highlights, and shadows that enhance beauty. That's what the artists of the Renaissance

2:28.8

did when they practiced that art of chiaroscuro and showing the depths and shadows and lights and harmonization on the face.
