Hi this is Steve. It was never supposed to be anything important. Just one of 50

films Warner Brothers released that year. It was the big break for a first time

leading man who had spent most of the last decade playing gangsters.

The leading actress had been close to quitting the business and couldn't wait for this film

to end so she could move on to her next job. Four different writers had their hands in the script and nobody had any idea how the movie was going to end until a few days before they shot it.

And yet, somehow, this improbable film became one of the most beloved movies in the history of American

cinema.

Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtis and starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman was made 75 years ago

and it is still as thrilling, funny, romantic, and stirring as it was the day it premiered. It is without question one of the great American

classics. In fact, AFI ranks it as the number three American film of all time.
