Well, if you watch these podcasts, often you, or listen to them, you know that I often start

out with some kind of object that has meaning in my life and often things that remind me

of God's presence and his grace. This little booklet that I'm holding is not at all attractive. It is pretty worn.

It is a little rendition of the Gospel of John presented to Joyce Smith, who is Luella, my wife's mother in 1929.

She would have been eight years old.

It was for faithful attendance to Sunday school.

As Luella discovered this recently as she was going through some of our stored items,

it just reminded us of the extent of God's grace in our lives,

that long before we were born,

God was already rooting us in this beautiful Christian heritage.

And Joyce was a woman of deep, unshakable faith.

She suffered from cancer for a long period of her life and heart disease, and yet she was joyful

and always thinking of others and serving others and ministering.

And that was the legacy Llewalla was born up in.
