Summary

As the football Super League collapses, footballing icon Jamie Carragher told me why the fan revolt was so massive, whether this fight will have to be had all over again, whether football can be separated from the profit-driven economic system we all live under, about how young and working-class fans are priced out of football - and how this successful struggle can encourage others to fight for justice against rich vested interests.

1:01.6

Or is this something that comes around every 10 years or so that this will just come back?

1:08.6

And if so, what's the plan? Well, you know what, I think it will come back

1:16.6

in some guys. I think it will be a long time before anyone mentions the super league at all.

But I think what it tells is the big clubs are unhappy about something. And I think what it also

1:26.6

tells is we've been very unhappy with them and the power of the people is more important

1:32.6

and powerful than, you know, the, than the man in power, shall we say, of these six clubs.

1:38.6

But they were obviously unhappy about something, whether to do more with Europe and the Champions League.

1:44.6

And I don't think this will fully go away in terms of this is never going to happen again.

1:48.6

And also the game should keep moving forward. It could, should keep evolving the Premier League

1:53.6

evolved from the, the old face division, the Champions League evolved from the old European Cup.

1:58.6

And I think they, they've both been good for football. I must say that.

2:02.6

And football can never stand still like anything. It's got to keep moving forward.

2:05.6

But this was just a step too far. But I'm sure in used to come to be another step forward
