Summary

Today we sit down with our good buddy, and a living legend of Alabama public land hunting, Michael Perry. Michael is one of the most successful hunters we know and has several different deer in the record books, including the state record muzzloader buck (196"!). You know, cell cameras are super popular these days. I use them. Jacob uses them. I know a lot of you guys use them as well.

Let me tell you something that will save you a little bit of a headache when it comes to cell cameras. That is the cell coverage layer from Onex Hunt. You can turn that layer on and view how the cell coverage is on any property or even certain parts of properties. Now that's helpful for cell cameras because I might be going to an area where I want to put a camera out and I can just before I leave, go ahead and look at the map, see if I've got good enough cell coverage in there. If it's got cell coverage, okay, I'll bring a cell camera. If it doesn't, all right, bring it a normal camera. I know I've been burned a bunch of times bringing a dagum cell camera somewhere and then getting there and then not having any service that's frustrating well this layer from onex hunt remedies that also it's just useful for

coverage in an area you know you need to go ahead and download that map for offline use on OnX. If you want to check out that layer and a whole bunch of others from OnX Hunt, go get you an elite membership and use the promo code Southern at checkout. It's going to get you a 20% discount, and it's going to help us out here at the Southern Outdoorsman podcast. So you'll go check it out. Stay safe this season and know where you stand with OnX hunt. I've been using the Vortex Fury range finding binocular this season and I've been really loving them. It eliminates the need for a rangefinder for me and it's really useful when you're hunting, let's say a big cutover where there could be a deer anywhere out there. And when you get eyes on it with the binoculars, it's really nice to not have to switch over to a range finder and relocate that deer and that sea of sagegrass with a rangefinder. I can just range them real quick in my binos, get the rifle up, and I'm good to go. This is going to take the guesswork out of your rifle setup. When that buck steps out, you're going to be able to see exactly how big he is and how far he is with one device at the same time. Simplifies everything.

So head on over to Eurooptic.com. Use the code SGN10 and you'll get a 10% discount on these binoculars. Again, that's code SGN10. Make sure you use that code at eurooptic.com. It's going to get you a discount and it's going to help out the podcast. One of the most common questions we get is from people who are looking to get into mobile white tail hunting. They're looking at saddles, but they don't know which one to get, they don't know how to get comfortable in a saddle. And I always recommend the lone star saddle from latitude outdoors. One thing you'll hear from a lot of people when they first get into saddle hunting is they deal with a little bit of hip pinch. That's just basically where you don't have your saddle adjusted right. And so it's kind of pinching your hips when you're sitting in the tree. It's really uncomfortable. It can take some fine tune in to get a lot of saddles right where they're comfortable to sit in. But with that Lone Star saddle, it has a hip pinch reduction system built into the saddle. Basically what that means is that right out of the box this thing's's going to be very, very comfortable. Whether you're doing a quick early season bow hunt or if you're planning on sitting in that joker all day long in the rut. That Lone Star saddle is personally my favorite saddle, and especially if you're newer getting into saddle hunting and you're looking for something easy and comfortable, check out that Lone Star from Latitude. So to go look at the Lone Star and a whole bunch of other mobile whitetail gear, check out latitude outdoors.com. The Mobile Hunters Expo is coming to Dalton, Georgia, August 8 through the 10th, and this year their speaker lineup is unmatched. They've got Bobby Worthington, Dr. Bronson, Strickland, Lindsey Thomas Jr., and Jacob and myself. If you've been listening to the show for a while, you've heard Bobby Worthington and Dr. Strickland on. Dr. Strickland talks a lot about the moon phase GPS data, stuff like that, buck betting. We've done a bunch of podcasts with him. He's going to be there speaking. And of course, legendary bow hunter Bobby Worthington kind of speaks for itself. A lot of y'all heard our podcast with him last year. If you've ever wanted to ask Dr. Strickland, Bobby, or Lindsey Thomas Jr., a question, this is the place to go do it. The Mobile Hunter Expo, Dalton, Georgia, August 8th through the 10th, they're going to be there delivering a seminar, and then of course they're going to open it up for a Q&A at the end.
