That just helps see it in editing purposes when you do the clap.

When you do the clap, it helps you sync the audio and the video so you know exactly when the audio track meets the video track because they're they're going to be lined up in the editing program

Otherwise you have to like look at someone's mouth and try and get it exactly but a clap is like that's the whole reason

the marker the slate that's what that's for gosh I've been in the industry for this
