Summary

You're damn right it's a clickbait title! And for good reason. I put this list together after years of working with men, observing what most of them struggle with, and where their greatest potential lies. However, it's also influenced by what we're going through socially and politically. Listen in, and if it resonates with you, DM me. Let me know what skill you're working on! Or if you think I missed an important one, tell me that too. Would love to hear your thoughts. Did you enjoy the podcast? If so, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Podchaser. It helps us get into the ears of new listeners, expand the ManTalks Community, and help others find the self-leadership they’re looking for. Are you looking to find purpose, navigate transition, or fix your relationships, all with a powerful group of men from around the world? All right, men, welcome to the Man Talk Show. I'm Connor Beaton. And today, we are going to be talking

0:05.3

about the seven skills that every man will benefit from developing and mastering. So I thought

0:13.4

about this quite a bit and put this list together based on the time that we are living in historically,

0:20.0

but the time that we're living in historically, but the time that we're living in socially,

0:22.4

culturally, geopolitically, and based on the work that I've done with thousands of men over the

0:28.9

years. And so the first thing that I wanted to start with is developing your capacity to

0:35.6

defend yourself both physically and cognitively. Now, most of the time when men talk

0:41.4

about how we need to, you know, develop the ability to defend ourselves, what they're generally

0:46.5

just talking about is to your ability to defend yourself physically. Now, that is incredibly important,

0:53.0

and you can learn a tremendous amount about who important, and you can learn a tremendous amount

0:55.0

about who you are. You can learn a tremendous amount about the world by doing things like

1:01.9

martial arts, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, combat training, weapons training, boxing, you know,

1:07.6

kung fu, et cetera. However, what we often miss out on is the really key importance of

1:15.8

developing cognitive defense mechanisms, psychological defense mechanisms. So we've entered into a new

1:23.0

era, a new period of time that has been developing for the last decade to two decades,

1:29.1

probably started somewhere in the 80s, but specifically in the last couple decades,

1:33.5

what we started to see more and more is that the people who control the narrative of our cultures,

1:40.6

of our societies, of our news medias and social news, social medias. The people that

1:45.8

control those have a tremendous amount of power. And we've entered into a time where we've

1:51.4

stopped reporting news, right? News outlets and stations have stopped reporting news from a fact-based

1:57.8

perspective and have started reporting from a narrative-based perspective.

2:02.3

So what they do is they say, here are the facts and here's what you should think about the
