So for those of you listening who aren't aware Drew and I are both old.

We're old men, we're old people.

And there are many things that we learn too late in life.

And so the goal of this episode is to share the life lessons that maybe we're a little bit too slow learning. I don't know if you want to respond to that or not.

The first one, and this was actually the biggest for me personally,

people tend to respect you in the proportion

that you respect yourself.

I feel like a lot of young men need to learn

this the hard way, because a lot of young men,

especially have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. They feel like they need to prove

something constantly and they need to earn respect constantly. And ironically it's

that perpetual need to impress people or prove something to people that actually makes them respect you less.

I look back at my teens and 20s and a lot of it was filled with, I guess you could say,

overcompensation for my lack of self-respect and it took me probably a little bit too long to realize that the way you actually earn respect from the people in your life is to simply respect you
