May the Lord protect us both teacher and the taught together by revealing knowledge.

May he protect us both by giving us the results of that knowledge.

Eishata Agnir Natchiketa Svaryo, Yama Vrinitha, Dutiyanavarrenitha, Eta m'yam agnim taveyva pravakhshanti Janasa, Trityamvaram, Natchito, Vrinishva.

O Natchiketa, this is for you the boon about the fire that leads to heaven, for which you have prayed through the second boon.

People will speak of this fire as yours indeed, O Natchiketa, ask for the third boon.

So what we have here is the culmination of the story coming to the climax where Natchikate is going to ask the question, which leads to Vedantic teaching.

We know the story so far. The little boy Natchiketha, he was,

he was skeptical about what his father was doing, organizing a big sacrifice where he was supposed

to give everything away, but he was giving his father, was giving only the things which he did not

want, a sort of a double dealing. Little boy fortright, he asked,

to whom will you give me? And the father was irritated at this and said, I'll give you to death.
