Today we're going to be talking about composting. If you listen to episode five,

0:39.8

creating a fertile soil, you heard me referring to the importance of adding organic matter to your

0:45.9

soil, specifically compost. You may be thinking, why should I compost? The basic reasons that I compost is it saves money. It reduces my

0:58.1

dependence on fertilizer. I do use organic fertilizer, but the more compost that I can use in my garden,

1:04.8

the less I have to pay for organic fertilizer. And let's be honest, organic fertilizer is not not cheap another reason is it repurposes

1:14.0

organic material instead of putting it in landfills you've got banana pills and onion scraps and

2:10.6

on it because all the information can get overwhelming. Especially if you've never composted before, composting must seem pretty

2:19.9

involved and you probably have lots of questions. How do you get started? Is it expensive? Do I have to

2:26.8

build a compost bin? If I don't have the money or building skill to construct a compost bin,

2:32.3

is it even possible? If I have a small garden, is it even

2:36.4

worth the hassle? Here's the deal. You can get pretty involved in composting, but for me, I like

2:43.9

to stick with the basics and make it as simple as possible. In this episode, I'm going to give you

2:49.3

the basics of composting, what methods I've
