When I was a kid, I used to pray the sinner's prayer every time a preacher said it, because I was just that afraid that maybe I'd done it wrong last time.

Welcome to the Prayers of Rest podcast. I'm your host, Asherita Choochoo, and this season, we are resting in the promises of God.

Specifically today, we are praying through God's promise of eternal salvation for all who believe in Him.

And that salvation is something that can never be taken away from you.

So as we begin, take a deep breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's loving presence around us and within us.

Today's passage comes from John 3 or 16. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in

him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness.

Creator God, how good and kind you are to have not just formed and shaped us and created us, not just breathe

life into us, breath of your breath, but also to send your own son to rescue us, to save

us, to redeem us.

This is love while we were yet sinners.

Christ died for us.

For you Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world, but that through you

we all might be saved.

And thank you for the promise that what is held in your hand, those who belong to you,

are safe and secure in you, and that nothing can snatch us out of your hand.

You, God, are more powerful.

More powerful than our past, more powerful than sin, more powerful than Satan.

You are the all-powerful one, and you are good, and you are kind, and you are loving.

And so it's because of your goodness that we can rest, knowing that our salvation is not dependent on our own goodness, but on yours.
