Warnings ahead of the storm. I'm Kathleen Maloney Fox News Hurricane Milton has its

sights on Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis says don't underestimate its expected impact.

Current estimates are that it has the potential to be a major hurricane when it makes

landfall in the middle of the week.

Yesterday I signed executive order declaring a state of

emergency. We had 34 counties. We now have expanded that in light of the

forecast of 51 counties. Forecasters are warning of potentially life

threatening storm surge, damaging winds,

torrential rain, parts of the state could get 12 inches.

President Biden has ordered another 500 active duty troops to North Carolina's mountains at Governor Roy Cooper's request

that puts 1500 soldiers in the western part of the state along with more than

6,000 National Guardsmen. The Governor's Office says since the state was

slammed by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, more than 83,000 people

have registered to get aid. The Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency

defends the agency's response to Helene in North Carolina.

FEMA Administrator D. Ann. Chriswell has been on the scene in the Asheville area and surrounding

counties in North Carolina where towns and roads have been washed away by

Helene. On ABC's this week Chriswell said FEMA was there early with supplies.

So we could quickly employ those resources to where they were needed.

And as we continue to see how long we're going to have to provide this level of sustained

support we will continue to do that.
