0:27.0 | I therefore the prisoner of the Lord besieged you to walk worthy of the calling, |
0:32.0 | with which you were called, with all loneliness and gentleness, |
0:36.0 | with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, |
0:39.0 | endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. |
0:43.0 | So first, let's just take note of the fact that Paul is the prisoner of the Lord, |
0:48.0 | and he's writing from a position of helplessness from a worldly standpoint, |
0:54.0 | but he's writing with great authority as an apostle. |
0:58.0 | And what is he urging us to do? |
1:00.0 | He's urging us to live in a manner that's worthy of the calling we've received in Christ, |
1:06.0 | which is what he is doing while he is a prisoner. |
1:10.0 | And notice, you know, he's not feeling sorry for himself in prison, |
1:14.0 | he's busy with the Lord's work. |
1:16.0 | And here we are benefiting from his labors on our behalf so long ago. |
1:22.0 | Later, when he concludes his letter, he mentions that he's sending a brother |
1:26.0 | to fill them in on how he's doing, that their heart would be comforted. |
1:30.0 | In other words, he's thinking about their concerns and he's trying to comfort them |
