Summary

Unfortunately, due to the rapidly unfolding COVID-19 situation, it is likely that Julia "Rocket" Sheehan will have to post-pone her 2020 PCT thru hike. In this episode, we talk about her updated plans, and her recommendation as a thru hiker and nurse for those that are currently on a thru hike or will be leaving shortly. During the later part of the episode, we talk about some more light-hearted subjects and she even gets the chance to tell TWO stories to close everything out. I'm so grateful that Julia was willing to come on Trail Tales twice within such a short time period, and I really hope that people take her recommendations seriously.  Check out her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/juliasheehan/ Check out my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/kylehateshiking While you're at it, Check out the show's website at trailtalespod.com Like what you hear? back on the show for another episode because she had talked quite a bit about her PCT

0:40.7

through hike plans for this upcoming year in that past episode and uh yeah that's probably not

0:47.8

going to end up happening unfortunately because of this COVID-19 coronavirus BS stuff so during during this episode, she gives some updates to those plans.

0:58.0

And we talk quite a bit about how coronavirus is affecting through hiking. We give some guidance on what you should do, perhaps, if you are in the middle of a through hike right now or if you're going to

1:11.6

be through hiking sometime in the near future. And the great thing about this conversation is

1:16.2

it's not just two hikers talking about this stuff. Well, I mean, it is, but one of those two

1:21.3

hikers, Julia is a nurse and experience nurse, a medical professional. I don't know if I would

1:26.9

feel comfortable putting out an episode like this if it was just

1:30.2

two non-medical people talking about this, because I just feel like it would be speculation.

1:34.6

And as you're going to hear me say, many times during this episode, I'm not a professional

1:39.0

on this stuff.

1:39.7

I don't really know what the right answer is more than anybody else does, unfortunately.

1:44.3

And so it was just, it was good to talk to a medical professional who also understands through

1:48.7

hiking about this stuff.

1:50.3

And I think this is going to be valuable and helpful.

1:53.2

And we don't just talk about coronavirus.

1:54.8

During the second half of the episode, we kind of stray off and talk about some other

1:58.0

hiking related things.

1:59.7

And at the end of the episode, Julia tells not one, but two stories.
