discussion with Christina Hoff-Summers on why, despite all the negatives, she's still a feminist. At the end of last year Iranian citizens began protesting against the Islamic regime.

This has happened before. In 2008 the Green Movement was speaking out against what many saw in Iran as a fraudulent election. But now with protests

carrying on into 2018 it seems that today's Iranian rebels are different.

Women have been removing their hijabs and waiving them at security guards in acts of defiance,

workers are coming out on strike, and in cities all across the country, not just in Tehran,

people are demanding an end to the regime.

So, what is the significance of all of this?

And more crucially, why are so many in the West

are willing to celebrate these acts of bravery?

To find out, I spoke to the British Iranian secularist and

human rights activist Mariam Namasi. So can you just tell us and our

listeners what is happening in Iran because we've seen some exciting images and video

footage of women pulling off their hijab and waving the air in protest and then

others shouting quite serious political statements like death to Rani.

What are the Iranian rebels protesting against?
