Radio Mano, Papa Chango I'm going to be. What's going on out there?

I can tell you things here in Crestone are interesting.

It's monsoon season.

This is the only time of year in Crestone

where the weather comes up from the south,

up from the Gulf of America, yo.

Yeah.

Fuck that.

Gulf of Mexico.

Comes up from the Gulf of Mexico, uh, bringing lots of moisture with it.

Uh, we're surrounded by quite high mountains on three sides, the west, the north, and the east.

So most of the year the weather comes from the west, it hits the San Juan mountain range

and drops its moisture, which is why the San Juan's are so lush and green and beautiful.

And then the clouds roll over the San Luis Valley having already spent their money so they don't stop and buy anything here.

So it's a high desert area here.

But midsummer, the weather comes up from the south.

And we get every day, it's like the closest I've seen to this kind of weather pattern was when I was on islands in Thailand, the south of Thailand.

You know, it's sort of like sunny in the morning, nice, beautiful day, and then out of nowhere, mid-afternoon,noon clouds start rolling in and they're big purple

kind of roiling clouds and you hear the thunder and lightning and then you get like crazy flash boom

rain uh here we get a lot of hail never saw hail in Thailand and uh yeah and then

it stops in an hour so the sun comes back out everything smells great everything's shiny and

beautiful i love it one of my probably my favorite thing about living in Crestone is the weather.
