It is September 5th. It is Labor Day weekend, a three day weekend and an anniversary of when I got run over on my motorcycle.

I bring it up every year because I'm alive and I'm happy to be alive. That's why I always say, God, fuck, I can't believe it.

But here I am and here you are tuning in a holiday, three day weekend. It is a thousand degrees here in LA, a thousand degrees. It is unreal, the heat.

My dog, Gerdy, does not dig it. I don't dig it really. I can, I can deal with it, but I don't dig it. And it definitely lets me know, oh yeah, I must have been crazy thinking I could live in Palm Springs during the pandemic.

You know, you can't, you go out to your car or your motorcycle or whatever and you just, you get in and you go, fuck this. And you go back in the house.

That's what's going on today in LA. And it's going to be happening all week. And I'm cutting out on Thursday to start the Marcus King tour.

So I will escape the heat and just dive right into probably some gnarly humidity on the East Coast. That's me babbling at the top of the show.

Glad you're here. And I have an incredible guest today. It is the return of Greg duly. Greg duly is a great friend.

I have loved this man's music since I first heard it all the way back in 1992 late night watching 120 minutes.

The song comes on turn on the water. I'm like, wow, who is this band? And when I really think about it, the Afghan wigs was probably my start of soul rock.

Them being so heavily R&B influenced, especially back then. It was a wild mixture. And I just that melting pot of indie alternative music college rock, whatever you want to call it.

It was this beautiful mixture of bands that all toured together and they were all great. But the Afghan wigs, there was something about them.

And just another level. I would even go as far as just to say they were just fucking elegant. They were just better than all of us.

And Greg duly the lead frontman guitar player up there in his suits, belt out a little bit of prints here and there.

In 1993, they drop a record called gentlemen. And it is a goddamn masterpiece. And it is, it is tough to beat that record.

And you drop a record like gentlemen, you just go like, well, fuck, I'm glad we have a masterpiece in our, you know, repertoire.

Repertraw, repertoire. I can't say words. I cannot say words. You say words like 10 times in your life. And when you go say it, you say it confident.

I'm going to throw that. I'm going to, here we go. Bam. And you just eat it. Anyway, gentlemen, 1993 had Greg on years ago, five years ago.

And it was just unbelievable to talk to this man about how that record was made. And, and just the impact it had on everybody, especially in San Francisco.

It was just played everywhere over the years, drop it all kinds of great records. 1965, black love, everybody with this band has their, their particular favorite in spades came out in 17 great record.

But about a week ago, I sat down and finally, you know, dug into their new record that comes out this Friday. How do you burn?

And I was really not prepared for how great this record was. And I will tell you this right now. Will co is probably got the record of the year for me so far.
