So tell us, how did you get into menopause and sexual dysfunction treatment?

Well, it was kind of a combination of personal need and demographics. When I finished training as an

OBGYN, I delivered babies and did surgery and really enjoyed that. And then I

moved to Europe for eight years. And when I came back, I was older and so were a lot of the

patients I was seeing. And I moved to Princeton, New Jersey, and there were lots of people

delivering babies, but there was really no one taking care of perimenopausal and menopausal issues, no one taking care of sexual

issues or even women with urologic problems. So it just seemed like my community had a need

and I knew I had training so I knew I could help, but it wasn't until I started treating these

women that I realized

I kind of needed more training. So I started going to courses like NAMs, the North American

Menopause Society and Iswish, the International Society for the study of women's sexual health.

And I learned how much I didn't know. And now I would say I feel very comfortable and competent

treating women with menopausal age issues.

So I did it because my patients demanded it.
