Summary

Last week we went on the spring break trip we had been planning for 4 years. We started planning this trip well before the pandemic hit and then had to cancel it and wait. And wait. And wait. Over the last 2 years, we have done a decent job of taking time as a family to get away in ways that felt safe(ish). Things like road trips and camping trips. And these have all been great. But we were definitely missing bigger vacations and longer getaways to places further from home. Last week, we spent a week on the tiny island of Isla Mujeres, just off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. It was the dreamiest trip (in spite of me completely throwing my back on Day 2.) The trip was dreamy because of its natural beauty - white sand beaches and the lightest turquoise water - but also because of how we managed the trip. In this episode, I share 3 things that made this trip exactly the respite I didn’t know I desperately needed. I hope these 3 things inspire you to take a vacation this summer - in whatever way is accessible to you. I’m guessing you need a break - perhaps desperately so. 0:52.9	Hello, shameless moms. Happy Monday. Oh my goodness. I'm going to do a little vacation recap for you.
0:59.7	So we got to go to Islamu Harris, Mexico for spring break. And this is a trip we originally planned to take two years ago.
1:09.7	But we actually had been planning it for quite a while
1:12.4	before that because we had found out about this location from another preschool family when Vinny
1:16.7	was in preschool. And we knew we wanted to go. And it took us a minute to like get it all booked
1:21.5	and set up. So we actually had it set up and on like our radar and calendar a good year, year and a half before the pandemic hit.
1:30.8	And then we had to cancel it because it was supposed to happen in April of 2020 and the
1:34.4	pandemic hit in March of 2020. So this is a trip that we've really been dreaming and scheming on
1:39.5	for a good like probably close to four years now. And so when we actually got to go on this trip a
1:47.7	week and a half ago, holy cow, it felt like such a huge gift, such a huge treat. And leading up to
1:54.2	this trip, I also was really, really aware of just the privilege of travel right now because in order to travel you have to be
2:02.1	healthy you have to be like on a flight that doesn't get canceled you have to be able to enter
