Summary

In this Podcast episode Havilah shares some thoughts on how to navigate your December. The more you have going on, the more critical it is to have a strategy. There is a downside of December and the feelings it provides. A lot of us have expectations that come with Christmas-time, but the reality is completely different. Havilah gives you 5 keys to a peaceful December Admit you have expectations. If you do not admit it, you will feel more and more disappointed when reality hits you. This is called maturity. What are you expecting and what are your limitations? What is most important to you? What feeling do you want to have during this season? Sometimes these are two different things. Schedule things to facilitate your feelings. What can you do to connect with your people, God and yourself? Set expectations for others. You need to get in a place of throwing things, not always catching. People have expectations, but if you know you can’t do it all, you have to say no. Consider January. You cannot ignore January in December because it will slap you in the face when it comes. But if you consider it now, you will love it when it comes. Think about the feeling you want when the new year kicks in. Set it up right now, so you are not left with surprises and disappointment. We hope this helps you today and that your December will be peaceful.

the more you have going on the more strategy you need. And the truth is December holds

0:38.8

it holds a lot of fun and movies and you know Christmas music and all that stuff but

0:43.2

it also can hold a lot of well it can hold a lot of things and sometimes I think December

down the hill makes you all the sudden you really is like I'm trying to keep up with my

1:01.9

legs you'll see our kids do it all the time they'll be running down some kind of hill

1:06.1

and you'll see them and they look like they're in control and the moment between when

1:10.2

they're in control and when they're out of control is like a few seconds and that's

1:13.9

kind of how December feels sometimes it's like I'm in the middle of it I've been enjoying

1:18.0

I'm enjoying I'm completely out of control of feeling. So I want to talk about strategy

1:23.5

and I want to talk about maybe the downside of December because there is a downside to

1:27.4

this this feeling of Christmas and the moment of December and so on talk about that because

1:33.9

sometimes I think if the older we get maybe just in life depending on what your personality

1:38.2

is like you can have an expectation of what Christmas can be like and sometimes the reality

1:44.8

of what we hope it will be you know what all of our kids loving what we've got them or

1:49.5

maybe you know that what our house is going to look like or maybe what our family gathering
