Summary

There is no shortage of deconstruction stories on the internet. Podcasts, videos, and blog posts deliver stories of lifelong Christians who begin to question and doubt everything they were taught about the faith they grew up with. From the Gungors to Joshua Harris to the most recent, and possibly most impactful deconversion stories, Rhett and Link of the Good Mythical Morning Podcast—these stories continue to impact Christianity, shaking the faith of many. Today, I talk with Travis Lowe, a pastor from Florida who went through the long and painful process of deconstruction. However, his story has ended a bit differently from ones we often hear. Listen to Travis' journey of hope as we walk with him from childhood through deconstruction, and into the reconstruction of a vibrant faith.Links:Travis' podcast: The Stone Table Podcast: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-…le/id1478795937 (%5C)Books that helped Travis' reconstruction:The Resurrection of the Son of God, by N.T. Deconstruction stories are all the rage. It seems like every time I turn around there's

0:44.0

another YouTube personality or podcast celebrity who have left the Christian faith, either they

0:50.9

grew up in the evangelical church or the Christian church, and through usually a long and

0:58.1

often painful and even sometimes traumatic process, they end up letting go of their beliefs.

So today I'm bringing you a story of someone who went through that process of deconstruction,

1:11.6

but then they went through a reconstruction. I really think that this story is going to

1:17.1

encourage you. It's going to fill you with hope. I have to be honest that I think this

1:23.3

is my favorite episode that I've recorded on this podcast since it started a couple years

1:28.8

ago. My guest today is Travis Lo, the teaching pastor at Bay Life Church in Tampa. He's currently

1:36.4

pursuing a Master's of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary there in Orlando, Florida.

1:42.4

He's been married for four months to his wife Mickey and they host the Stone Table podcast,

1:47.6

which I've been a guest on a couple of times. So definitely check that out. He likes hanging

1:52.0

out with his wife, reading books and listening to death metal, two things that actually go together

1:56.5

very well. Don't they? Travis. Sort of. And spending time with his very mean spirited cat named

2:03.2

Augustin. Travis, I'm so glad you're on the show today and I knew that we would get along

2:07.3

just fine when I found out you had a cat named Augustin. Yeah, he's kind of like the actual

2:13.8

Augustin before his conversions. So yeah, I'm excited about the show. Well, I'm glad to have you.

And today we're going to talk about deconstruction. And for anyone unfamiliar with that term, it's
