Why should I listen to someone I've never heard of?

You just might learn something and be inspired and carry that forward and make the world a goddamn better place, okay?

A foil I've made up to make a point. Okay, fine, what's your point? My point is that my guest,

Louis King, is a hero of mine. And that's because he spent the last 25 years training folks on the north side of Minneapolis for jobs. And the north side is one of those isolated urban areas that in

America has been the victim of systemic racism for decades and decades,

and basically still is, with high incidence of crime, of poverty, of joblessness,

and Lewis King has made it his life's work to provide training for thousands and thousands of Northside residents to get the skills for good jobs,

and then he's placed them in those jobs. And on top of that, he's a happy guy. Louis King is a happy guy,

and he's a great talker too, okay? Okay, okay, if you put it that way,

now I'm looking forward to listening. Good, great. Now, it's no coincidence that Lewis is my guest.

Last week we saw the anniversary of George Floyd's murder, and he speaks to that in our conversation.

The George Floyd thing was a Birmingham moment. It was a bull-connor moment with the attack

dogs on the women and children being broadcast by Walter Crunkie into the White H homes, and America really doesn't have the

stomach for the viciousness of the system.

My dad pointed to that when I was 12 and said, no Jew can be for that.
