As the book of Luke closes and the book of Acts begins, remarkable, miraculous things were happening in Jerusalem. Even as the gospel was being proclaimed and the Church was growing by thousands of people, Jesus’ followers were faced with internal struggles and persecution from within their own Jewish community. Pastor Allen Jackson tells us that Luke recorded all of these events—the triumphs as well as the challenges—so that we will be prepared to face similar things in our lives. He says that moving forward we should be prepared for change in order to meet new opportunities, be ready to participate in a great move of the Holy Spirit, be ready to stand for the truth without hesitation, and be eager to tell the Jesus-story at every opportunity.
