Where are we?

So much in the news.

We have had the horrendous assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

We have had the naming of a right-wing fanatic, no surprise there, as Trump's vice president in the person of J.D. Vance, a man who does not want to have exceptions for rape or incest in a nationwide ban on abortion.

We had today, as we record, a conviction of Senator Bob Menendez on 18 federal accounts and the calls for

Democrats for him to resign.

Unlike Republicans, they don't think convicted criminals should be in positions of authority.

And, of course, we have Eileen Cannon, the judge in the Mara O'Lago case, who has decided that Clarence Thomas's concurrence in the immunity case was not so wild and crazy and insane, and she's going to cite it and dump the case against him for Espionage Act violations.

That's right.

After all this time, the special counsel law is unconstitutional, she says. The opinion is so badly reasoned and so

dishonest. She says he's acting like a private citizen. No, Jack Smith is not a private citizen. He's an

employee at the Justice Department. He's subject to the same Justice Department rules as everyone

else. He reports to the Attorney General.

What is she talking about?

She's auditioning, folks, because what else is going on this week?

It's the Republican National Convention.

So she is auditioning for the 11th Circuit or maybe even the Supreme Court in the second

Donald Trump term, should there be such a hard thing.
