I've thought about so many different ways to commemorate this special anniversary and decided

0:09.3

that I would share 10 of the highlights of my first decade as a podcaster.

0:16.5

I say first decade because I love podcasting and all the ways it has enriched my life and fulfilled

0:25.8

my childhood dream of having a talk radio show. Before I share my highlights, let's take a short walk

0:33.4

down memory lane as to how I got started. My husband Mark and I were nearly three years into

0:40.8

our startup SaaS company, which is software as a service, and our dreams of marrying my marketing

0:48.1

and business chops with his software and tech abilities were not taking off as we expected.

0:56.6

I started listening to podcasts for ideas and inspiration and to learn more about this new social media thing that was happening.

1:03.2

Instagram and Pinterest both launched after we had our software company and the iPad was nearly

1:09.1

a brand new product too. That's the kind of things

1:12.4

that can happen in a decade. My hope was to find someone to listen to that was like me, a woman

1:19.2

trying to juggle motherhood. At the time, I had a preteen and a toddler and was running a household

1:25.5

and a startup. Given all the podcasts for women entrepreneurs

1:29.6

that exist now, you may be shocked to know that in September 2013, when I snagged the URL,

1:37.0

bizchicks.com, remember we spell chicks with an X here, I could not find a single podcast

1:43.9

dedicated to women entrepreneurs. So I decided to launch one.

1:49.7

I chose to do this because I really needed something just for me. It was so frustrating to be

1:56.0

struggling with our new business and I found having a business partner challenging,

2:00.2

especially when we were also

2:01.8

life partners. Now, as it turns out with most great ideas, there were a few other amazing women

2:09.0

who also launched shows for women entrepreneurs around the same time, namely Jessica Kufferman

2:15.0

who had Lady Business Radio and Katie Kremitzos who launched Business Women Rock,
