to us about the protests in Chile.

Carson was recently there covering them from the barricades and he's going to tell us what he's seen.

So far over 20 people have been killed by the government who were trying to crush the protest.

They've installed a curfew, they've brought the military out onto the street, and in some cases we've even seen protesters are actually firing back at the police with live rounds.

So it looks like things are escalating quite fast and Carson's going to give us an idea of how this all happened.

You've just been in Chile recently reporting on the situation there.

Let's go back to the start.

Maybe you can explain to people what exactly triggered this and what is happening now

because it's not in the news that much I don't want to go down the

route saying mainstream media aren't covering this because they are covering it but it is

being overshadowed a little bit so yeah maybe you can go back to the start and maybe explain

how this all

happen so I mean it's it's a thing where it's like it like you said it is being

covered but I don't think people get the scope of what's going on it's like

every day stuff is happening there every day there's

protesting confrontations with police and like it goes back to October 14th

when there was a there was a planned protest against the fair increase for the Santiago Metro and essentially what happened is a bunch of students got together and they decided to skip the fair by jumping the turnstiles and like disabling the turnstiles.

And then this escalated and a bunch of different stations got shut down and
