Summary

In this episode, I explore my personal moral journey, highlighting the stark contrasts between societal values and actual behaviors, particularly regarding the treatment of children. I share my experiences of neglect and abuse during my childhood, reflecting on how the silence from those aware of my suffering illustrates a troubling apathy towards vulnerable individuals. I analyze the contradictions faced in academic and professional settings, where the pursuit of truth often falters in the face of uncomfortable realities. Furthermore, I critique the atheist community's abandonment of moral integrity when it came to my own struggles, questioning the authenticity of their values. This discussion invites listeners to reflect on the alignment between their proclaimed values and their actions, urging a courageous confrontation with uncomfortable truths in pursuit of justice and integrity.

Good morning everybody, hope you're doing well.

0:02.0

Steve Van Moline, you from Freedom,

0:04.0

so I was thinking actually this morning, sort of back on my life and

0:12.0

one of the sort of largest themes of what's been going on in my existence,

0:16.0

conscious or unconscious at the time, it's this idea that

0:20.0

my whole sort of life has been a constant

0:22.6

moral experiment. It is sort of an empirical program or like process to see what people in society

0:32.2

say and then see if they do that, right? Especially, of course, around morals, right?

0:38.4

Especially around morals.

0:40.3

So when I was growing up, of course,

0:44.7

society and everyone said,

0:46.5

we care about the children,

0:48.4

children are everything,

0:50.5

and the most important thing,

0:53.6

our greatest resource and all of that.

0:56.6

So then I guess I listened to what society said,

1:00.2

and I was curious in my core as to whether that's what society actually did,

1:07.4

like actually live that way.

1:09.9

And no, society doesn't live that way. And, uh, no, society doesn't live that way.

1:12.7

Society hurts children around. Society, you know, hits and beats the majority of children,

1:17.4

yells at them, screams at them, locks them in these terrible schools, uses them as,

1:21.3

uh, financial instruments to have as collateral so that they can borrow and spend on themselves
