You may have to strain your ear a little bit.

There it is. It's a centuries-old acoustic keyboard instrument

of a particular vintage called a harpsichord.

You're not likely to hear such an instrument

being played in a small pre-war apartment building,

nestled in a blue-collar neighborhood, in this section of Western Queens.

But there it is. And it's not a recording. Everyone in the building has been hearing it lately.

Interestingly, no one has complained, even though some tenants have been disturbed by it,

because anyone who has lived in this particular building, if they've lived there long enough, they

have learned not to complain about such things. Well, there are complainers, and then there

are the innocent ears of the curious. N'uh, you don't got a piano in there, Jose.
