Hunter Biden's gun case is officially over.

A U.S. district judge in Delaware said in an order this afternoon that, quote,

all proceedings in this case are hereby terminated.

The president's son was convicted on three federal felony gun charges after a June trial.

But he was pardoned by his father, President Joe Biden, on Sunday, which forgives the crimes and ends the case.

Hunter Biden's attorneys had asked the judge to formally dismiss the charges instead of simply terminating or shutting down future proceedings.

The federal judge in Hunter Biden's tax case in California hasn't officially ended that one yet, but is expected too soon. Hunter Biden pleaded

guilty in September to nine charges in that case. He faced sentencing later this month in both

cases, but those hearings won't happen now because of the pardon. He could have faced a maximum of 42 years in prison, though the sentence likely would have

been much lower than that.

Meanwhile, in a filing made public today, President-elect Donald Trump's lawyers formally asked

a judge to throw out his hush money criminal conviction.

They used President Joe Biden's pardon of his son Hunter to argue that the conviction should be

dismissed.
