The NYPD's chief of detective said today that the man arrested in Pennsylvania and suspected of killing United Healthcare's CEO last week had a ghost gun, or one that's difficult to tie to pass crimes.

He added that police will now test to see if the ballistics match the shell casings found at the scene of the shooting in Manhattan.

26-year-old Luigi Mangione was also in possession of a two-page document railing against

the health care industry and suggesting that violence is the answer. That's according to a police official who has seen the document.

Syria's former Assad regime prime minister agreed to hand over power to rebel forces

during a meeting in Damascus today.

That's what the outgoing prime minister told Al-Arabiya TV, according to Reuters.

The leader of the Syrian rebel group HTS met with the Prime Minister under ousted Syrian President

Bashar al-Assad's regime to discuss the transfer of power.

Sources tell CNN that Syria's next prime minister has not yet been appointed.

Assad was Syria's brutal dictator for more than 50 years and has fled to Russia with his family.

CNN's Fred Plitken explains how Assad's fall could weaken Russia, a key Syrian ally.

They were one of the biggest backers of the Assad regime and of course still have major military assets inside Syria as well.

The Russians admitting that for them, it's unclear what the future of those military bases will be.

They say a lot of that depends on who will have power in Syria in the future.

The Russians say that their forces inside Syria are on high alert,

but at the same time also say that it is calm outside their bases.

President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on the promise to create more American jobs and protect

existing ones. But many of his proposals and expected policy changes threatened to have the

opposite effect for some working Americans. CNN's Elizabeth Buckwold has more.
