New York prosecutors have charged Luigi Mangione with murder over the assassination of United

Healthcare's CEO.

He is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen targeted murder of Brian Thompson.

Thompson was shot and killed last week, but the gunman fled, starting a five-day manhunt

that ended when police got a tip and arrested 26-year-old Mangione at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania.

Responding officers questioned the suspect who was acting suspiciously and was carrying multiple fraudulent IDs,

as well as a U.S. passport. Upon further investigation, officers recovered a firearm on his person,

as well as a suppressor, both consistent with the weapon used in the murder.

Officers also found a handwritten note that's been described as Mangione's manifesto.

An official says it included lines like, quote,

These parasites had it coming, and I apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done.

It didn't mention Thompson specifically.
