CNN team witnessed police entering a pro-Palestinian protest encampment a short time ago

before some were later seen leaving it, with some in the crowd shouting peaceful protests at

officers and others throwing water bottles at them.

A source familiar with the situation says police had earlier declared the pro-Palestinian

encampment on campus there as an unlawful assembly, which is usually the first step taken before

ordering people to disperse or face arrest. In the past few hours, CNN has seen

more than a hundred law enforcement officers from various agencies arriving on the campus

last night.

CNN's Nick Watt is on the campus with some of the protesters who are yelling at law enforcement.

We've got a lot of people shouting at them whenever they come out of these buildings

shame on you shame on you and the world is watching now I'm also hearing from our

reporters on the other side of the encampment where there is another large group of pro-Palestinian

protesters like the one I'm with here now. I've just heard that a fight has

broken out there, a scuffle, unclear exactly who it's between, but clearly emotions are very high

as this operation appears to be getting underway.

Meanwhile, deadly Israeli airstrikes continue in Gaza

as the weight continues for Hamas to respond to a proposed ceasefire deal.
