Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, February 28th.

It was a big night for President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, who both won their respective primaries in Michigan.

But even though they easily came out on top, their victories came with a bit of a warning.

Protest votes cast by progressives, young voters and Arab and Muslim American Democrats

sent a clear message to Biden, change course on Israel's war in Gaza, or risk losing

a significant chunk of support in what could end up being a decisive state.

And on the GOP side, while Trump's win further closes the door on Nicky Haley's hopes of building

momentum ahead of Super Tuesday, there's no hiding that the former president lost out on a

sizable portion of Republican votes, as people cast their ballots against the unquestioned

leader of their party. CNN's Kristen Holmes has more on what Trump's team will take from the results.

What is important about this race is that they are looking for clues to inform them about a potential

rematch against President Joe Biden. So part of what they are doing

is looking at the data, who came out to vote, who didn't come out to vote. One of the

sectors they're really looking at is union households because Donald Trump

and his team believe they can drive a wedge

between Joe Biden and one of his core voting blocks which is organized labor.
