July 5th. President Joe Biden is trying to rally support behind his re-election

campaign as calls for him to pull out of the race

have grown louder among some lawmakers and donors. Long-time Democratic Party

donor Whitney Tilson tells CNN he believes more Democrats will come out publicly for

Biden to step down from the election.

He has gone from three points down to Trump to six points now in multiple high quality polls which basically

tells me that with four months to go until the election if Joe Biden remains as

the presidential candidate he is going to lose possibly in a landslide and I know

he doesn't want that. Even in the highest levels of Biden's own administration, serious

doubt is starting to set in about whether he can ride this out.

One senior Biden administration official told CNN on the condition of anonymity that they see dissent

against Biden growing, saying, quote,

first it's the donors and then it's elected officials,

now it's going to be polling.

And Biden's team looks to be digging in,

hoping that polling will be helped

with the airing of an ABC interview tonight.

Biden's campaign is hoping it'll help drive away

the image of a shaky and at times confused president that was seen by millions of Americans

at last week's CNN debate.
