Hello from CNN I'm Joe Beck with the five things you need to know for Wednesday

January 10th. The deadly winter storm battering pots of the US is bringing more snow, wind and rain to the northeast today.

At least four people have died because of the weather in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina,

while many others have had to be rescued.

And more than half a million homes and businesses have lost power,

leaving some people with no way to get warm in the freezing temperatures.

The storm has also led to 23 tornado reports since Monday, like in South Carolina,

where a century old city hall building reportedly collapsed.

And it's not over yet. Heavy rainfall is likely to cause significant river and flash flooding from the Western Carolinas to the mid-Atlantic and northeast today.

Police in Philadelphia have this warning for drivers.

If you see flooding, don't go through it.
