This week's curriculum is 1st Samuel, chapters 8 to 10, 13, and 15 and 16.

Basically, this is the story of Israel transitioning from judges to a monarchy,

entering what is referred to as the Golden Age of Israel, the administrations of Saul, David, and Solomon.

It doesn't mean there aren't serious problems with the kings.

Every one of them betrays the office by turning towards idols or disrespecting God.

Saul actually, as far as we know, does not turn toward idols.

And David had some wives and concubines not given to him of the Lord,

and then of course the whole Bashiba incident, which will be discussed in a week to come,

but Solomon turns to other idols.

So they each in some way put something before Jehovah and are condemned by the Lord.

review of some parts of this story. We know that Samuel's sons were not righteous. I talked about

this before. Eli, the priest from the line of Aaron that was in charge of the tabernacle, had sons

that were called to priestly duties

and taking some of the offerings that were supposed to go,
