Hi, this is Lily DeHoya Sanderson, and you're listening to Choosing Glory. Thanks for joining me

this week. We are talking about the book of Joshua. Again, it's selected chapters. So they're

treating some of these things lightly because they are stories that we're familiar with.

And of course, there are some great principles and lessons to be gained from these stories,

but not deep doctrine.

So we can still learn a lot of good things, of course, from these amazing characters.

And it can help us understand through the arc of God's workings

with his children in mortality. And I love that. And I hope that that is working for you this

year as well, that all those are strengthening our view of God's plan for us, his children, to allow us the

opportunity to receive whichever level of glory we desire and diligently pursue. There was a nice

piece in the curriculum called the historical books in the Old Testament.

And it was specifically mentioning Joshua through Esther as being stories of characters,

which still talked about kind of what was happening in the history of the children of Israel,

the covenant people. I'm not going to go through all the

information. I hope you got a chance to read it or that you'll take the opportunity to read it,

because I thought they did a nice job. Of course, they make some apology in a way, gentle apologies for,

you know, a culture that we understand very little of and how some people are kind of

offended or bothered by things that we encounter in the Old Testament that had to do with

the culture of the day and the law of Moses that we understand very little of. And of course,

again, it's a condensed record.

So it's covering so many years in a relatively brief or member of pages that it'll be interesting

when we have the opportunity in the next life to review some of these events and characters
