0:00.0	Welcome to the prayers of rest podcast. I'm your host, Asherita Chuchu, and today I invite you to pray with me for our in-laws. And if you're thinking, well, that's not really something that I need to pray for in my life. Maybe you're not in a situation where you have
0:21.7	in-law relationships. Let me encourage you to consider praying for someone who is in this
0:28.1	tricky relationship. It can be beautiful and rewarding and there can also be unique challenges
0:35.4	to an in-law relationship. And I'm sure that there's a friend in
0:39.9	your life who could use you interceding for them today. In fact, it might be exactly what they need
0:46.6	right now. So feel free to adapt this prayer to pray on their behalf. As we begin, take a deep breath as we become aware of God's loving presence
0:58.0	around us and within us.
1:09.9	Today's passage comes from Colossians chapter 3, verses 12 to 14.
1:16.6	Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion,
1:25.6	kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other
1:32.2	and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord
1:39.0	forgave you and over all these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity.
1:49.8	Let's begin by reciting God's goodness, praising Him for who he is and for what he has done in our lives.
2:00.1	Oh God, you are so good and gracious to have chosen us to be your people.
2:07.0	Thank you that you love us dearly.
2:10.4	That you cover us with your own compassion, with your kindness, with your gentleness, with so much patience toward us.
2:20.3	Thank you, Jesus, for modeling humility as you let go of the glory of heaven to come to earth and love and serve us.
2:30.3	How kind of you, God, that you don't ask anything of us that you haven't first modeled for us in Jesus Christ.
2:40.6	Thank you for relationships in our family, for in-law relationships, for the family members that we gain through marriages.
2:51.2	Thank you that in your sovereignty and kindness,
2:54.3	you have created these relational ties
2:57.8	that put us in connection with people who are different from us.
