Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week, daily devotional where we share the

word, prayers, in our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. I would guess you've probably heard this

saying at some point in your life, worry is like a rocking chair, gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere. Such a true story,

right? It's also true that I can be told a hundred times, a thousand even, not to worry,

and I still will. It is in my DNA as a human, I think, and yet it's also something I believe

God can help you and me overcome somehow. And I'll add, I think, in doable daily doses, small ones.

If we're a person who worries, we know firsthand how worry robs our joy.

So as we close out this last chapter in Philippians and our month-long look at joy,

I want us to dive into worry and get some encouragement about how to stop our cycle of this.

verses it holds.

Boy, there's a lot.

Here's another one today, Philippians 4 or 6.

Don't worry about anything.

Instead, pray about everything.

I love how Paul speaks practically to our problem when he says, don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. I love how Paul speaks practically to our

pray about everything. It's don't do this, instead do that. And for me, I appreciate a teacher

who doesn't just say what not to do and doesn't say and point out the thing that's not working, but also points out the way to correct it.

He's being a part of our solution.

And once again, he knows this firsthand because can you imagine how much reason Paul has to worry and how much time he has on his hands to worry?
