I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

So we're still in our joy month, still in Philippians 3 this week, and even if you're just jumping in, you're not too late to the game, so please don't think that. I wonder today if you've

ever known anyone who absolutely flaunted what they had or who they were, and I want to give

you a nugget the next time you're tempted to find your worth and, yes, joy in things, I hope you'll

remember this. I want to tell you something you may want to write down, or if you're driving and listening,

go back and listen right after the music so you can jot this down and have it to remember.

Worth can't be inherited, bought, or borrowed.

want you to remember what Paul says in Philippians 3. Right after he talks about not boasting himself or putting

confidence in human effort, that verse we discussed yesterday, Paul then goes on to talk about the reasons he could,

and he does have his reasons. If you study the commentary, you'll find out a couple of things.

Number one, Paul is a pure Jew. In other words, neither parent was a Gentile, which is a notable

thing back then. Two, in that, there was a legal high status. And third, he's been circumcised eight days after his

birth instead of later in life like some other men, which was again a point of importance back

then and proving he, in fact, had some real cred as a person by way of what he was born into

and just generally who he was. Many people, so many of us, do try to find joy

and fulfillment in the worth we place on ourselves by virtue of who we are, what we have,

what we were born into, what we do. And so back to our statement, worth can't be inherited,
