Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the word prayers in our heart.

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

But we've decided August is our joy month on the five word prayers daily. It's a crazy month for a lot of us

with summer coming to a close, kids going back to school and the fall gearing up and anticipating

all of that. We have been looking at the book of Philippians and studying how to have more joy

in our life. I've personally been loving this study, and I hope

you have to, and encourage you to listen to all the month's worth of shows, because we're

literally overviewing an entire book of the Bible, which I personally think is pretty cool.

This week is highlighting Philippians 3, and in particular, the joy that comes from believing.

Up today, the grounded life. Who doesn't want to be grounded?

And so few of us, I think, actually are.

Here's the opener of Philippians 3-1. Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. I read that

and got no further in the chapter because here

we have talked about joy for the previous two chapters, and it's repeated here almost like a new

idea. Okay, Paul, we get it. Rejoice. Have joy. This is what we want in life. But really, it's the

three words at the very end that tell us all we need to know in the Lord. It's the reminder from the

brother sitting in the darkest of circumstances. He's not sure is going to go well. Hey, if you're

looking for joy, you won't find it in another place but Jesus. It won't be outside the walls

of your heart. No confidence in the flesh or outward circumstance or relationship.

And we need this message over and over again because we don't get it as many times as we've already heard it.

Our joy is found in God and in God alone.
