| 1:08.7 | Her name was Marie, and I stand on the shoulders of this extraordinary |
| 1:11.9 | woman. Marie was born in Kansas City in 1903, the daughter of a pastor. She grew up and married a pastor |
| 1:18.4 | as well. Together, she and her husband Walter raised six children through years of the Great Depression |
| 1:24.4 | and World War II on a preacher's meager income. Her children later |
| 1:29.1 | recalled her tiny parsonage where the girls slept in the only bedroom they had, the parents |
| 1:33.8 | slept in the living room, and the boys slept in the kitchen. They recalled going to school |
| 1:37.8 | without shoes until a few generous teachers quietly stepped in to help meet the need, and they |
| 1:42.9 | experienced real hunger at times. |
| 1:44.9 | Yet largely because of the extraordinary faith and the influence of their mother Marie, |
| 1:49.1 | the children remembered all growing up in a home filled with love for each other and for God. |
