Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the word prayers in our heart.

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

There's some debate around the word ministry, and maybe you're like a lot of people who think that if you aren't serving in a church or working

full time as a pastor, you aren't, quote unquote, in ministry.

But the truth is, as believers in Jesus Christ, we're all in ministry.

Yes, you heard that right.

You teacher, you painter, you barista, you doctor, you me, we are all in ministry as followers of Jesus in our

everyday lives. I want to talk about some specific ways this week we do ministry to put a face

to it so we can be encouraged and hopefully inspired as well to serve God daily. Let's go.

Thank you. to serve God daily. Let's go. Last Sunday, one of our pastors did something unique. He asked us this question,

how many of you are in ministry? And he asked us to raise our hands. Only about a fourth of the

church did so. I happened to be sitting in the balcony so I could clearly

see the raise of hands. And then he asked us this question, how many of you are followers of Jesus Christ,

to which almost the entire congregation raised our hands? He then made a really good point. He said,

if you're a follower of Jesus Christ, you are in ministry, no matter what you do

every day for a job. We need to begin to understand this and operate with this mindset.

The truth is, I think a lot of us have a hard time seeing ourselves as in ministry, but if we've

chosen to follow Jesus, we are. His life on earth was a ministry life. His life now

lived through us is a continuation of that life through our hands and feet and lips and even

our presence, which is no small thing, especially in this hurry up culture where we don't take

the time for people much anymore. I love how Paul encourages us in

Romans 1215 as a mark of a true believer doing ministry to rejoice with those who rejoice,
