Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week daily devotional where we share the

word, prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. Happy Monday, friends, and welcome to our

week-long emphasis on social media. I'm looking forward to this and what God is going to show us through

this closer look at the modern issue of all things, our life online, by the timeless principles of the

word. You know, the Bible might have been written thousands of years ago, but it is every bit for what

happens right now so much, and I am so grateful for its guidance for our everyday issues, aren't you? I'm not sure

there is anything we need more wisdom on than maneuvering the complications of social media,

so we're going to dive into our issues related to that all week, starting right now.

I hate it when I leave a conversation or an interaction with someone, and I feel like I've been less than something in those moments, less than a good listener or less than a good friend to them by responding maybe poorly in our conversation, or less than a dedicated Jesus follower by neglecting to share with them about Jesus. Having now been a Christian for 40 years, I can't

believe it. Wow, how precious. I'm very aware of representing Jesus well and the importance of it,

and still sometimes I don't do that, and it grieves me.

Social media has become one of those places that I think a lot of us struggle with our faith,

because on one hand, we know we're representatives of Jesus and what we say and do reflects

him, but maybe never has a venue such as the online space pushed us to behave poorly

in situations and generally just let the

human in us all hang out. I'm honestly not sure if we're behaving poorly half the time or if we're

just being ourselves and what we're seeing in black and white is shocking us because we can't

deny some of the ways we're acting. I often wonder what Jesus

thinks about his followers who could do so much good in the world by this venue called social

media, and yet we choose to do just the opposite and hurt the cause of Christ. Don't even really
