I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

Have you ever met someone and they ask you this? So, what's your story?

It can be a little awkward. Often I'll ask, which version do you

want, the long or the short version? It's so hard to give an elevator speech in two minutes

over coffee about a lifetime that's our story, right? But let's have a conversation today

about story and why we need to know what it actually is.

So there's been a lot of talk in recent years about our story.

Story is kind of a buzzword, especially in Christian culture.

What is our story?

How we all have a story, how we all need to share our story.

And I think we're all sort of drawn to this idea because there's two things about humans that I suspect will always be universally true.

The first thing is that we want to know who we are matters on this earth, right?

And the second is we like to talk about ourselves.

I mean, let's be honest, we might have stage fright and not want to get up in front of people

and share our story, but we generally like things to be about us, even if it's just with

a close group of friends.

That's just the human

nature of people. It's like why we like to hear people say our name. It's why we like to hear

that name be called. We're enamored with the idea that we're special and significant and set

apart and important. And before you ask me, well, Lisa, is that a bad thing? I'm going to tell you
